In 1984 The Distinguishing Touch® Florist began its operation literally "from the ground up." Michelle J. Jacob, the owner of The Distinguishing Touch® Florist, grew and nurtured flowers from her gardens. She then traveled to other New Hampshire florists selling her dried flowers.
For the next several years, Michelle became committed to the art of preserving flowers and perfected the preservation process by developing proprietary techniques of creating everlasting flower arrangements.
By 1989, the demand for her unique creations enabled her to open a showroom in Londonderry, NH. The natural next step in the evolution of the business was to expand by offering custom fresh flower arrangements. Again, demand for her unique creations soon outstretched the limits of her gardens and her own time, so she hired staff and began traveling to Boston in the wee hours of the morning to select the freshest flowers possible for her customers.
By 1991, The Distinguishing Touch® Florist had a staff of six, including two additional designers to meet the demands of the business and to add more creative diversity. A unique aspect of this diversity, was to offer both silk permanent botanical arrangements and gourmet and fruit baskets to compliment the everlasting and fresh flower arrangements.
By the end of 2005, Michelle realized that in order to grow her business and continue offering that "Distinguishing Touch", she needed a larger facility. On April 1st Michelle and her staff began a two month long renovation project at 539 Mammoth Road. On June 1st, she officially opened her new store.
The Distinguishing Touch® Florist is now located at 539 Mammoth Road in the historic village section of Londonderry.
Today, the business continues to thrive with hundreds of loyal customers who call on their "Personal Florist" to create an arrangement that is "uniquely theirs".
